(CONNECT) The furniture store micasa is launching the limited edition collection HOMEWORKS in all of its stores on 28 August 2025. The collection comprises 38 pieces of furniture as well as home accessories which were designed by 16 young designers from ECAL, based in Renens in the canton of Vaud. According to its statement, each piece demonstrates “well thought-out design, high-quality execution, and affordability”s

The collection spans mirror clocks and modular carpets through to plant pots and wastepaper baskets. “We don't just want to showcase objects that are suitable for everyday use, we want to create products with real personality,” Stéphane Halmaï-Voisard, Head of Bachelor in Industrial Design at ECAL, is quoted as saying.

“HOMEWORKS is an invitation from micasa to ECAL students to rethink our living space,” says micasa's creative director Maxime Zenderoudi. “The collection brings together functional pieces with charisma and humor. Some are references to Swiss culture, others rethink function or are multipurpose.”

ECAL Director Alexis Georgacopoulos emphasizes that HOMEWORKS “perfectly reflects the spirit of ECAL: original creations that combine innovation, practicality, and aesthetics”. He describes real-world projects like this as “essential for our students to develop creatively while meeting market demands”.

To date, micasa, which currently has 30 stores, has been coordinated by Migros Fachmarkt AG. However, with Migros’ restructuring, Fachmarkt AG is being dissolved. Micasa will become independent on 1 September 2025 through a management buyout. All stores and employees will be retained. ce/mm
