Three members of Swiss Textiles are among the nominees in the Textiles category of the Design Prize Switzerland. The winner will be announced at the prize giving ceremony on November 5, 2021. Swiss Textiles, as the main sponsor of the Design Prize Switzerland for many years, is pleased about the innovative projects that will be recognized again this year.
Nominees in the Textiles category are: BENU Sea Collection by Christian Fischbacher Co. AG; Smart Textiles - Heatable Capsule Collection, a cooperation between AlphaTauri, Deutsche Telekom and Schoeller Textil AG and the novel, ornamental net structures Webnet Evo by the rope manufacturer Jakob Rope Systems. The three projects exemplify how diverse the properties of textiles are. Design Prize Switzerland comment the nominees: "Whether as a sustainable curtain fabric, as heatable jackets and waistcoats in sports or as railing fillings or safety nets in architecture: innovative developments are driven by the use of textile materials."
But textile innovations are not only to be found in the Textiles category. Two textile projects were also nominated in the Going Circular Economy category, which was awarded for the first time this year: 100% Nature Collection / V&R X CALIDA Capsule Collection von Calida AG und Circle Jacket bei Neumühle.
Swiss-Textiles-director Peter Flückiger says: "The nominated products and projects in the category Textiles and also Going Circular Economy show how versatile and how specialized this industry is. And also how much the products are shaped by the Zeitgeist. Textiles today not only have to be sustainable, they have to add value in their function."
Swiss Textiles congratulates all nominees and looks forward to the prize giving ceremony on November 5, 2021 in Langenthal.
