More than 100 people were inspired by the request from Forster Rohner and its embroidery firms Jakob Schlaepfer AG and Inter-Spitzen AG, as well as the couture atelier Die Manufaktur, to send in their favorite memories and stories about the St.Gallen Children’s Festival. To mark the occasion of the festival’s 200th anniversary, the textiles companies promised that everybody who submitted a story would receive up to 2 meters of high-quality St. Gallen lace to make their own outfit for the children’s festival. They were able to pick up their fabrics at the Forster Group outlet store on October 30 and 31.
The two best stories were also rewarded with tailor-made children’s party clothing or a sewing workshop. According to a press release, the jury awarded first place to Joana Wöstenfeld, who, as a student in 1975, took the initiative for the first women to wear trousers at the children’s festival. “We found this story unique”, the jury states. Second prize went to Romana Büsch, a teacher who explained: “I think we can probably all remember the children’s festival, and you find yourself thinking back to times when you were in many of the situations described”.
“With this campaign, our aim is to celebrate the St.Gallen Children’s Festival together and – in addition to supporting the schools within the Swiss Textiles network – we are also keen to enable parents, grandparents, siblings and other festival visitors to dress in embroidered clothes made in St.Gallen”, as CEO of the family company Forster Rohner, Emanuel Forster, explains in an earlier press release. ce/mm
