(CONNECT) Verity has added radio frequency identification (RFID) functions to its autonomous system for recording stock levels in a pilot project with Swiss company On and Maersk from Copenhagen. According to an announcement from Verity, the three companies’ joint vision is “to enhance inventory visibility in supply chain to unprecedented levels, near operational omniscience.” On und Maersk have been using Verity’s autonomous inventory drones since 2024 and 2023, respectively.
Previously, the system could only record what it was able to perceive visually. According to the information provided, the integration of RFID has lifted this limitation. This reportedly expands the perceptive capabilities of the Verity system beyond boxes and thus permits precise identification and tracking of individual items at every phase of handling.
The announcement states that this enables the creation of “a true warehouse digital twin.” CEO and Co-Founder of Verity Raffello D’Andrea commented: “By fusing AI, autonomous data collection at scale, and RFID, we are bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds to deliver complete visibility across supply chains.”
Additionally, Verity explains that unlike other RFID systems for store environments, its solution does not require “bottleneck solutions such as gates,“ adding: “In the fast-moving world of supply chains and warehousing, true visibility requires a mobile, agile, and autonomous reader—something Verity has delivered in the pilot with On and Maersk.”
On’s Co-Founder Caspar Coppetti stated: “We are excited to push the boundaries of what’s possible in logistics through this pilot project with Verity and Maersk. This exploration of cutting-edge solutions allowed us to test and evaluate new ways to enhance efficiency and transparency in our supply chain.” ce/mm
