(CONNECT) Fischbacher 1819, the textile manufacturer from St.Gallen, Switzerland, has launched a new upholstery fabric under the name of Velvet Stretch. As detailed in a press release, the fabric, which is woven from 100 percent wool, is available in 21 natural tones and vibrant colors. Owing to the material, Velvet Stretch has a particularly soft feel akin to traditional velvet, while at the same time being extremely durable, as confirmed by a wear rating of 45,000 Martindale. Due to the bidirectional stretch properties of the material, it is particularly suitable for covering curved or round shapes without being prone to undesired wrinkling.

“Velvet Stretch embodies the power of color: bold, vibrant, and rich. It readily adds depth and personality to any space. An invitation to use color confidently and creatively”, as Camilla D. Fischbacher, Creative Director of Fischbacher 1819, explains in the press release. The new upholstery fabric was first displayed in public at Münchner Stoff Frühling, the textiles trade fair held in Munich.

The new creation slots into the portfolio of 542 products, which includes more than 25 velvet designs, offered by the family-owned company Fischbacher 1819, which is now managed by the sixth generation of the family. ce/ww
