(CONNECT) The St.Gallen-based fashion brand Akris has opened a new branch in Chicago. The boutique located on East Oak Street extends across 325 square meters, where the latest collections from Akris, Akris Punto and Akris Accessoires are being presented, as the company explains in a LinkedIn post.
The branch was designed and built in collaboration with the architects from David Chipperfield Milan. As a sign of respect for the history of Oak Street in Chicago, the building’s brick aesthetic has been preserved, with a metal-glass façade integrated into the design.
“Oak Street has always been special – its rich history, grand architecture, its people. We are proud to be a new part of this neighborhood”, comments Albert Kriemler, Akris Creative Director, in the LinkedIn post. “As a sign of respect, it was important for us to preserve the historic façade while also introducing something new – a metal-glass façade in the best of David Chipperfield’s architecture. David’s work acknowledges that architecture is not a static artifact – this is also what I love about fashion: there is always an evolution”, Kriemler concludes. ce/ww
