(CONNECT) Dagsmejan is celebrating its tenth birthday and to mark this auspicious occasion the supplier of functional sleepwear has produced a limited edition: select models from the Balance collection will be available in a special anniversary print.
According to a statement, this print represents “the journey that began with a simple question at our kitchen table – as well as the people, ideas and encounters that have shaped Dagsmejan over the past decade”. That question, as founders Catarina Dahlin and Andreas Lenzhofer state, was: Why is there high-performance clothing for practically every sport but hardly any functional clothing for sleep?
This formed the basis for an interdisciplinary research project that brought together three different perspectives: Sleep research with Stockholm University, materials science with the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, and textile ergonomics with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The aim was to understand how temperature, humidity, materials and fit can influence how well we sleep. Based on their findings, the two co-CEOs Dahlin and Lenzhofer began to develop Dagsmejan.
Since 2018, the company’s products have also been available in Germany, the USA and the UK. According to information from Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), Dagsmejan generates 85 percent of sales from its own online shop, while the export share now stands at 65 percent. Since the founding phase, S-GE has supported Dagsmejan in relation to issues on e-commerce and market entry, among other aspects.
In Switzerland and Germany, Dagsmejan pajamas are now also available in select specialty stores as well as pop-up stores. Dagsmejan will now seek to further expand its presence in key markets in addition to entering markets in China, French-speaking regions and the Middle East. Since being founded, Dagsmejan has received numerous awards, with a particular highlight being Catarina Dahlin winning the SEF.Women Award for Entrepreneur of the Year in 2023. ce/mm
