(CONNECT) The Zurich-based textile manufacturer Dagsmejan has outfitted the players of the Swiss national ice hockey team with thermoregulating pajamas. The sleepwear is designed to help the athletes get a restorative night’s sleep and recover effectively ahead of the upcoming World Championship, as was reported in a statement. The 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship will take place in Zurich and Fribourg from 15 to 31 May.
The team views sleep as an integral part of their performance strategy, alongside training and mental preparation. “Sleep is recovery number one,” Patrick Fischer, Head Coach of the Swiss National Ice Hockey Team, explained in the statement. “In the final phase of a world championship, the best team is the one that recovered best.”
The team has been using sleepwear from Dagsmejan since 2021. It made this choice on account of the functional properties that are specifically designed to meet the physiological needs of athletes, particularly temperature and moisture regulation during the night. Dagsmejan is a Swedish metaphor for “a new dawn”, a time to start the day with renewed energy. ce/ww
