(CONNECT) On has unveiled two new running shoe models: the Cloudboom Strike 2 and the LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2. The models have been specially engineered for marathon racing and are the first to feature CloudTec Sphere technology.
CloudTec Sphere technology is the most advanced development to date of On’s CloudTec cushioning technology. According to a statement, the geometry features engineered cushioning channels designed to enhance comfort and optimize running efficiency, whilst reducing strain during crucial phases of the race. The system is complemented by the new Helion HF midsole, which is 15 percent lighter than the previous generation.
The LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2 also features a seamless LightSpray upper, which is sprayed by a robot in a single, glueless production step. The laceless design is intended to offer a second-skin fit that eliminates distractions while on the road. According to On, the LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2 also improves running efficiency. A study by the University of Cape Town reportedly found a 1.6 percent increase in running economy when compared to leading competing models. Several On athletes have also achieved new personal bests wearing the shoe. Joe Klecker, for example, beat his personal best by 4 minutes and 41 seconds at the Boston Marathon.
The Cloudboom Strike 2 and LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2 will be available from 30 July on on.com and at selected retailers. ce/ja
