(CONNECT) Swiss textile brand lavie, which belongs to Balsiger Textil from Langenthal in the Swiss canton of Bern, has launched its new Bananatex Collection 2026. The textiles are woven from a blend of natural fibers, according to a statement. Fifty per cent of the fibers come from the abaca plant, a species of banana that grows wild in the Philippines where its cultivation contributes to reforestation and biodiversity. The remaining fifty per cent consists of organic cotton woven into the textiles.

There are two product lines in the collection: the John nightwear and Liam bedding lines will both be available from 21 May. The cotton used in the Liam bedding offers a “familiar softness”, writes lavie, while the durable abaca fibers help guarantee that “the fabric stays beautiful for longer – without feeling heavy”. The new products reportedly retain their shape even when washed frequently. The bedding is available in three colors: undyed, coconut, and avocado.

The John line consists of short-sleeved shirts and shorts that have been given a “Bananatex update”. Both the shirts and shorts are unisex and are available in the colors undyed or coffee. ce/ww
