(CONNECT) The St.Gallen-based fashion house Akris has opened a new branch in Hamburg. The two-story store will present the company’s new collections across an area of approximately 350 square meters, as detailed in a LinkedIn post. According to Akris, its presence in Hamburg has now been relocated to the upmarket shopping street of Neuer Wall.

Designed in 1979/80 by the architect Peter P. Schweger, the building is an example of postmodern architecture. It embodies the guiding principles of Akris: clean lines, modernist style and a clear design language. “Hamburg has long held a special place for me – not least through nearly two decades of collaboration with the Hamburg Ballet and John Neumeier. It makes this new home, in a building of architectural significance for the city, all the more meaningful”, as Albert Kriemler, Creative Director of Akris, comments in the statement.

Kriemler has regularly collaborated with Neumeier in the past 20 years. Albert Kriemler was also at Neumeier’s side during his last post as director of the Hamburg Ballet. Moreover, Akris designed the costumes for the dancers of the 2026 Vienna New Year’s Concert, for which Neumeier was responsible for the choreography.

The new store in Hamburg is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays until 6 p.m. ce/ww
