(CONNECT) Tim Kramis GmbH has hosted the latest edition of the Blaue Teppich Award (Blue Carpet Award). Tim Kramis is head of marketing and sales at Kramis Teppich Design AG, based in Altbüron in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. The ceremony was held at the company’s headquarters, according to a statement. The award, described by its organizers as the “Oscars of the Swiss LinkedIn scene”, was originally conceived as an exclusive networking event for prominent figures in the Swiss LinkedIn community. This year, however, the initiative took on a charitable focus, with 14-year-old Nnamdi Onwuka taking center stage.
Nnamdi Onwuka, who is autistic, plays ice hockey as a goalie and has already had the opportunity to train with Swiss national team goalie Leonardo Genoni. His ambition is to play professionally in North America’s National Hockey League. However, the road ahead is a challenging one, according to the statement. Nnamdi has faced bullying because of his condition, while his single mother is experiencing financial difficulties.
The entrepreneurs who attended the event used their reach on LinkedIn to draw attention to Nnamdi Onwuka’s story. Within a very short time, more than 40 posts about the 14-year-old had been published. Support is also being organized through the honorary donors association Verein der Ehrenspender, which is backed by Tim Kramis, among others. The association sells soap manufactured in Switzerland, with the proceeds going to the child currently supported by the association – in this case, Nnamdi Onwuka. The attention generated on LinkedIn helps promote the initiative. ce/jh
